Spring in Maine

Spring, when are you coming
With your warmth and sunny days?
I see tiny buds outside
Ready to burst forth
Waiting for warm, sunny rays.
But snow lies still on grass and lawn
Slowly melting in the rain.
A cold wind blows today -
It is spring in Maine.

Before long, summer will be here
To rocky coast and beach's delight
When gift shops line the road
And no one heed the lobsters' plight.
Summer! Sweet desire of our state
As for now we long in vain;
Here in tiny snow-flakes falling
It is spring in Maine.
